She was then a part of the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that was formed following the WPS was disbanded. Rapinoe gained the status of one of the team's leading scorers, and later became the Captain of the squad. Rapinoe's contributions enabled to help the U.S. Women's World Cup to win two consecutive titles in the years 2019 and 2015. In 2018, she was named cocaptain for the U.S. national team. Rapinoe's two goals were the result of the four-three United States victory against Australia during the Olympics of 2020 in Tokyo. Japan, however, was delayed to 2021, until the COVID-19 epidemic was over.
